The Department of Veterinary Prevention is the organizational division which is in charge of promoting, protecting and improving animals health and welfare, the safety of food of animal origin, and, more broadly, public health.

The Department of Veterinary Prevention performs its duties towards the food business operators who work in the fields of primary production and food of animal origin processing and supply, and, as for the matters within its competence, towards bodies, institutions, occupational groups, private citizens and associations.

The Department of Veterinary Prevention collaborates with the Health Districts and the others A.S.P. Departments with the purpose of identifying and removing the causes, of environmental or animal origin, of harm and diseases, and with the purpose of promoting actions aimed at protecting public health, with the involvement of operators belonging to different disciplines.
