Departmental Module for Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry

The Departmental Module for Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry is a service that provides specialized health services related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of:

• Neurological and neuromuscular disorders (epilepsy, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular diseases, neurometabolic diseases etc.);
• Mental disorders (autism, psychosis, neurosis, eating disorders during adolescence, abuse and maltreatment);
• Neuropsychological disorders (intellectual disability, learning and behavioral disorders, language disorders);
• Youth unrest.

The operating model is based on multi-professional interventions, aimed at patients in the age of development who are between 0 and 18 years old, and at their families.

Access to the service is open; a prescription from a general practitioner or a pediatrician is not required, moreover, it is exempt from co-payment.

The multidisciplinary team consists of:

• A doctor;
• A social worker;
• A psychologist;
• Nurses;
• Rehabilitation therapists;
• Speech therapists;
• Administrative personnel.
