The Working Environments Prevention and Safety Service (S.Pre.S.A.L. Servizio prevenzione e sicurezza negli ambienti di lavoro) deals with:
Assistance, information, training and education about health, with reference to occupational hygiene and safety; epidemiological research about the effects on health that derive from working environments risk factors;
Prevention, aimed at combating the action of the main risk factors, by the means of their knowledge and recognition. Preventive opinions and permissions, as prescribed by S.Pre.S.A.L. institutional duties.
Control and assessement of the observance of sanitary and safety conditions in working environments. S.Pre.S.A.L. operates autonomously, in response to emerging and significant problems on the territory, or upon notification from workers or their representatives; moreover it is empowered by the Judicial Authority in order to fulfill supervision duties, as referred to in the article 13 of Legislative decree 81/08.
Authorizations and opinions: derogation articles 63 and 65 of Legislative decree 81/08 – Opinions of the supervisory authority (NIP, article 67 of Legislative decree 81/08, article 46 Legislative decree 272/99 – Urgent works on materials containing asbestos article 256 paragraph 5 Legislative decree 81/08 – Other opinions on the specific matter within the competence of the Service (motherhood safeguard – child labor);
Medical examinations (upon reservation, also by telephone): specialist medical examinations for work-related diseases (request by regional medical prescription); fitness for work assessments, upon appeal against the opinion of company occupational health physician; fitness for work assessments for general tasks; medical examinations for health surveillance on former-exposed workers;
Diagnostics (upon reservation, request by regional medical prescription): Patch test, Soundproof room audiometry; Spirometry; Reaction time;
Support: information and support about safety and health in working environments, aimed, in particular, to small and medium-sized enterprises and the respective employers associations (article 10 of Legislative decree 81/08) – help desk Legislative decree 81/08;
Surveillance: Scheduled or requested by the Judicial Authority – article 13 Legislative decree 81/08.
