The Territorial Operative Unit for Sports Medicine performs the institutional duty of protecting the health of athletes and provides the provincial Sports Federations with the scientific knowledge for the improvement of sports performances. Moreover, it promotes a sports culture which aims to the well-being of individuals and supports the application of training protocols with preventive and therapeutic purposes, by the means of researches in the field of physical exercise and sport, in collaboration with national and international research Bodies.
The Service Charter constitutes the formal commitment that the Sports Medicine assumes towards its users, by the means of the observance of the following requirements:- Collection, control and updating of guidelines and scientific protocols;
- Programmatic answers to requests of health education activities within 7 days;
- Issue of reservations for medical examinations of fitness for competitive sports, by and no later than 15 days before the date of the examination;
- Performing of medical examinations of fitness for competitive sports within the expiration date of the certificate of fitness for competitive sports/non-competitive sports/recreational and motor activities; in the case of high cardiovascular stress level and compatibility of the requested date with the existing waiting lists;
- Collection of users authorizations for the processing of personal data for healthcare purposes;
- Collection of users informed consents for Stress tests;
- Performing of quality controls in each phase of the service;
- Employment of adequately trained human resources;
- Systematic maintenance and calibration of the equipment.
- Health safeguard of competitive, non-competitive and recreational-motor sports activities with an high cardiovascular stress level;
- Functional assessment;
- Diagnostic assessment for ultrasound imaging with rehabilitation purposes;
- Health Education: promotion and realization of projects aimed at increasing the practice of physical activity, both in general population and in groups at risk, by encouraging the development of opportunities and support from the local community. Development, based on the setting (school environment, working environment, community), of plans related to the promotion of physical activity practice, endorsed by healthcare and Social healthcare services, educational institutions, “employers”;
- Basic and applied research;
- Functional assessment of asthmatics, aimed at fitness for sports certificate issuing; by the means of spirometry stress test protocol;
- Nutritional counseling;
- PSS training courses;
- Promotion of counseling on physical activity;
- Prescription of individualized physical exercise with prevention purposes and therapeutic purposes, as for chronic degenerative diseases;
- Anti-doping projects and doping prevention projects;
- Promotion of structured physical exercise plans, aimed at subjects at risk.

Certificates must be sent by mail or picked up upon prior appointment
