The service aims to protect the psychophysical health of the pupils of public and private nursery schools, primary schools, lower and upper secondary schools, as well as that of the teaching and non-teaching staff.
It deals with the health and hygiene surveillance of schools; the compilation of dietary charts for school lunch; the education and the promotion of health, by the means of the development and the realization of training courses aimed at pupils, teachers and parents.
It provides the following services: monitoring of the psychosomatic development of the pupils; health and hygiene surveillance; screening activity; control of infectious and parasitic diseases; certifications for exemption from physical education lessons; education and promotion of health; awareness campaigns for vaccination; first aid services, when the doctor is at school.
The Service promotes the development of an healthy school environment, by encouraging connections between school and healthcare.
School Doctors perform their duties in schools or outpatient clinics.
- Global medical examinations for pupils, upon appointment;
- Meetings with parents, teachers and pupils, upon appointment;
- Medical examinations for certifications of exemption from physical education activities, upon appointment (it is possibile to request for further tests).

- Prophylaxis and monitoring of infectious and parasitic diseases;
- Targeted screenings based on age groups;
- Consulting activities for the planning of health education interventions;
- Health information and education activities aimed at the school population, teachers and parents, with the purpose of health protection and prevention.
The monitoring of Pediculosis capitis, scabies or other infectious diseases among the school population is performed upon request of schools.
The Service, in concert with general practitioners, schools and/or families, provides information and advices about the prophylaxis measures to be adopted, as for cohabitants and/or contacts.
School activities are carried out in school medical offices
- From Monday to Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
The offices are open to the public
- From Monday to Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.
- Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Access to outpatient clinics upon prior appointment.
School Healthcare services are free of charge.
